Hard to believe

The following email was sent to our supporters today and we wanted to share it with you:

Hi Friend,

This November's election can't be considered a success for us Democrats unless we come out and re-elect Senators like Claire.

I've studied the electoral maps inside and out. If we want to keep control of the Senate, Missouri needs to stand behind Claire. It's as simple as that.

And Claire can win, because she's right for Missouri. But you know what scares me most? All three of Claire's Republican challengers just keep getting more and more extreme. They want to privatize Social Security, privatize Medicare, eliminate student loans, prevent women from earning equal pay for equal work, reduce the minimum wage — and I could go on.

It's hard to believe that Missourians would go with one of these three Tea Party candidates. Can you imagine losing a fighter like Claire in the Senate and replacing her with any of these three people?

Don't let this happen — make a $1000 donation to Claire's campaign before her crucial end-of-quarter fundraising deadline on Saturday.

Now, if this election were an even playing field, I have no doubt Claire would win in November.

But it isn't. Karl Rove and his anonymous billionaire friends are spending tens of millions of dollars to twist Claire's record like a pretzel.

They're trying to buy this election. And if they succeed, they'll do it over and over and over again. We just can't let this happen.

So we either do all we can to elect Claire, someone who fights tirelessly for working families and isn't afraid to step on some big toes. Or we let Karl Rove win, and we get left with another Senator whose only purpose is to vote alongside special interests — preserving tax breaks for Big Oil and letting military contractors dodge all accountability.

In just three days, Claire has to report how much money she raised this quarter. And I can assure you this number is important — the political commentators I go on TV with will break down her fundraising totals and those of her opponents to determine who is most likely to win in November. And that will seriously impact how she can finish the last few months of this campaign.
