It's official. As of 5 p.m. today, Todd Akin is the Republican Senate candidate for Missouri and nothing can change that.

Todd Akin's officially Claire's opponent | Fundraising Goal: $600,000 more by September 30. DONATE NOW.

That means power plays from the national Republicans and back room deals offered by Karl Rove and the Super PACs can't get him out of the race. He's their man.

But that doesn't change the fact Republicans will stop at nothing to beat me. They know they can't regain the majority without Missouri, and they don't care that Akin winning brings his extreme beliefs from the fringe of their party into the U.S. Senate.

We can't let that happen. I need your help today to make sure we have the resources to show Missourians just how extreme Todd Akin is.

A critical fundraising deadline is coming up on Sunday, and we still need to raise $360,261 to reach our third quarter goal. Will you donate $5 or whatever you can right now?

It's only a matter of time before the Koch brothers and Karl Rove find a way back into Missouri. They don't care what Todd Akin says or believes as long as it means there's a majority in the Senate that doesn't question their special interest agenda.

Because they sure as heck don't want to give me another opportunity to keep fighting against wasteful military contracting, fighting to create jobs, and fighting to end subsidies for Big Oil.

And if you want proof that the Republicans in Washington are coming back into Missouri, look no further than the special guest at Akin's fundraiser in St. Louis yesterday: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Please donate $5 or whatever you can to my campaign before our quickly approaching fundraising deadline and help us reach our important end-of-the-quarter goal:

I can't do this without your help. But if I can count on your continued support, I know that we'll be celebrating together in November.
