Shelby is a field intern at the Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign office in Columbia. She works to contact and identify voters in mid-Missouri as part of our grassroots effort get out the vote for Democrats across Missouri on Election Day.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Shelby: My name is Shelby Voigt and I’m a Mizzou senior currently studying Political Science and Religious Studies. I’m the oldest of four from Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

What first got you interested in politics?

Shelby: I have been interested in politics since middle school, being pulled into the excitement of the 2004 Presidential election and coloring in my states red and not enough blue.

Why did you choose to volunteer for Claire?

Shelby: I’m excited about Claire’s campaign because she really has my back as a college student with loans and jobs to start searching for.

What issue is most important to you in this campaign?

Shelby: The issues most important to me this November are those surrounding education and LGBT rights.

What has been your favorite part about volunteering for Claire?

Shelby: My favorite part of my internship so far has been the opportunity to meet and talk to some really enthusiastic Democratic supporters.
