Chillicothe, Mo. — On the first day of her week-long, statewide “In Our Town, On Our Side” RV tour, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill visited Chillicothe on Saturday, to stop by Washington Street Food & Drink Co., and meet with voters. With her for the visit were her daughters, Maddie and Lily Esposito, and campaign crew.

“I grew up in rural Missouri and know firsthand that there are no one-size-fits-all solutions for the challenges we face,” said McCaskill. “Whether it’s supporting our rural communities by protecting our post offices or voting to give farmers and ranchers peace of mind in the Farm Bill, I want all Missourians to know that they have a senator who’s willing to work across the aisle to get the job done, who understands our agriculture needs, who keeps the promises made to our veterans, and also understands that compromise is not a dirty word.”

While meeting with the voters in Chillicothe, McCaskill answered questions, told stories, and presented her campaign as the “clear choice for Missouri families.” She will be seeking re-election to the senate on the Democratic ticket in Nov. 6’s upcoming election. So far, she is running unopposed in the Democratic primary, set for Aug. 7. Contenders to take on McCaskill from the Republican Party in the November election are Congressman Todd Akin, former state Treasurer Sarah Steelman, and businessman John Brunner.

McCaskill emphasized that her campaign will rely upon the hard work and support from everyday Missourians to combat the “secret money attack ads” that have already flooded the Missouri airwaves, to the tune of nearly $7.6 million.

The stop in Chillicothe was part of the first day on McCaskill’s week-long “In Our Town, On Our Side” RV tour. During the tour, McCaskill will open several of the Missouri Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign Offices. She said that she is bringing her daughters along on her journey to share the places she remembers from her past. Over the course of the week, they will visit 24 Missouri communities.
