MISSOURI — Today, McCaskill for Missouri released a new TV ad, Secure, highlighting the National Border Patrol Council endorsement of Senator Claire McCaskill. The National Border Patrol Council endorsed Claire because they know she is the only candidate in this race who has a proven record of working across the aisle to keep our country safe and secure.
“The men and women of the United States Border Patrol risk their lives every single day to keep our borders secure, and their critical work is often thankless. As Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security committee, I have worked with members of both parties to ensure that our Border Patrol agents have everything they need to secure our borders, and I will always have their back. I’m proud to have the National Border Patrol Council’s endorsement, and I’m deeply grateful for everything they do to keep us safe,” said Senator Claire McCaskill.
As the ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator McCaskill has worked to support the brave men and women of the United States Border Patrol. Earlier this year, McCaskill helped craft a bipartisan deal that would have provided $25 billion for increased border security. She has also co-sponsored legislation to provide $600 million for border security; introduced a bill to allow the hiring of 1,000 new Border Patrol agents; and introduced an amendment that would require Customs and Border Protection to hire 500 additional officers per year and provide additional funding for those hires until they meet their staffing needs. After McCaskill met agents at the U.S.-Mexico border and heard how they need new technology, she fought for a bipartisan bill to get new technology into their hands and took action after reports that agents were using faulty equipment.
