Claire McCaskill Holds “Your Vote Counts” Event at University of Missouri – St. Louis to Highlight the Importance of Voting this November
ST. LOUIS — Today, Claire McCaskill held a “Your Vote Counts” event at UMSL, where she highlighted the importance of voting this November.
“Voting is one of our most fundamental rights as Americans, and I want to encourage all of our students to come out and vote on November 6. From college affordability, to affordable health care coverage, there are issues in this Senate race that are going to directly affect the lives of college students — and I want them to know that their voice matters,” said Senator Claire McCaskill.
Claire believes that one of Americans’ most fundamental rights is the right to vote – which is why she has fought back against attempts to restrict voting rights and backed legislation to restore the full protections of the Voting Rights Act. She has worked to make college more affordable by expanding Pell Grants and affordable student loans, and introduced bipartisan legislation to crack down on the way campuses handle sexual assault, so that all students can learn in a safe environment. Claire has also fought to maintain the health care protections that allow young people to stay on their parents’ health insurance plan until age 26 and that protect Missourians with pre-existing conditions — both protections that Josh Hawley’s lawsuit would end.
